Vitamins has booked an amazing tour send off show. Not only will tonight's audience at Larimer Lounge get to enjoy the fabulous psych rock and seductive female vocals of Vitamins, but also the music of three other hot Denver bands. Gauntlet Hair is currently making a run for the national scene and will be coming out with their self-titled debut in October. They have released one single from the album and it is an idine-pop gem full of sunny sounding reverb. Woodsman is another Denver psych/experimental rock group that has gotten some national attention of late. Their name is out there due to their constant touring so seeing them in their hometown is a rare opportunity. Hearts in Space is a local indie/psych rock group that is hot off of their awesome UMS performance. They rocked the Hi-Dive at UMS and we can only expect the same tonight! I can't wait!
Tonight help Forest Room 5 bring in summer! The first installment of the Patio Concert Series is tonight featuring Bare Bones and Land Lines. Bare Bones is a rocking alt-country band made up of Denver all-stars. Since my last piece on Bare Bones they have continued to improve. The have recently teamed up with a booking agency and next weekend they will headline a show at the Hi-Dive. Come see this cheaper show to get a preview and you surely will not want to miss next weekend!
Summer is also beginning this weekend at Larimer Lounge. This Sunday they will have an evening show with several Denver bands that i really enjoy! Vitamins are a psychedelic-rock group with a female vocalist. Hearts in Space is another psychedelic-rock group with two stage stealing front men. Their shows are always fun! Shady Babes is a rock group with a surf and sun feel. The lead singer and guitarist, Paul Garcia, is also the front man for Pacific Pride. This is a great all Denver lineup and is not to be missed.
The Westword Music Showcase is fast approaching. With one month left to decide which acts are worth seeing, I thought I would begin to preview local bands and musical acts that I personally enjoy and plan on seeing on June 18, 2011. Welcome to Festival Season and welcome to summer.
Wednesday night at Larimer Lounge should be a good show. Sleepy Sun is a band I am only somewhat familiar with, but they wear face paint on stage. Who wouldn't want to see that? They are San Franciscan and take after their city's psychedelic roots creating a fuzzy acid-rock sound inspired by Led Zeppelin.
Hearts in Space is a local psych-rock band that has been improving and growing as of late. They completed a residency at Lost Lake in February and headlined their first show a few weeks ago at The Oriental. The four piece band has two vocalists that each lend something different to the band's sound. While Jordan Hubner's vocals are melodic and harmonious, Ezra Darnell's are commanding and his stage presence striking. And he has a really cool guitar. Come and check them out tomorrow night, 9:00pm at Larimer Lounge!
