187 Ultra with Pictureplane, K the I, Sole, Bluebird and Egadz @ Hi-Dive, Doors 8:00PM, $8

Tonight is the first installment of Pictureplane and Sole's 187 Ultra.  This event will be taking place monthly at the Hi-Dive.  Its aim is to promote local experimental electronic acts while bringing in national acts of the same genre.  Pictureplane and Sole will play tonight themselves to represent Denver.  Pictureplace's music and live show is eccentric electronic.  When I saw him live before there were people in full black spandex body suits (Think Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia) wearing huge gangsta chains creeping (dancing?) around behind him.  It was entertaining to say the least.  187 Ultra should provide us with the same level of entertainment x 4 while providing electronic artist with a way to get themselves out there.  Thank you Pictureplane and Sole!

The Polish Ambassador with Little People and Hoot @ Larimer Lounge, Doors 8:00PM, $15

The Westword Music Showcase pre-party will be held at Larimer Lounge on Friday night.  I always think of pre (or post) parties first and for most as dance parties.  The Polish Ambassador, with his 8-bit synth-pop, will fulfill these expectations.  Little People will keep us grooving but slow things down.  Their down tempo beats will be perfect for Friday night because you'll want to be well rested for Saturday!  Come out and get this weekend started right. Westword Music Showcase. Saturday, June 18, 2011 @ 11:30AM, $25

This Saturday come see Denver's best local acts.  There are over 150 bands playing on 15 stages.  It is organized kind of like SXSW and it should be a ton of fun! For my WMS picks, see my article Westword Music Showcase Preview.
