Zio's is the bar side of Pasquini's pizzeria, a consistently popular neighborhood spot in the Highlands, off of the ever-changing 32nd Avenue. The decor takes you back to the 1940s, an Art Deco blast from the past. An antique cash register sits atop the mirrored bar and neon bar signs and retro bar stools line the narrow space. The exposed brick walls, dark wood and deco glass make this a unique and cozy space.
I have always noticed a friendly neighborhood vibe in this bar, and it's something you can't find anywhere else in the Highlands. Everybody here seems to know each other, and if you come in solo you'll have new friends by the end of the evening. The people who frequent this bar are down-to-earth and happy to make newcomers feel welcome. I always find interesting conversation here.
The service at Zio's is always great; the staff always friendly. You can't beat the $3 happy hour from 5 - 8 pm, which includes microbrews, wine and wells. If you stop by on a Thursday or Friday ask the bartender, Justin, to make you his signature Sweet Tea. This is the perfect summer drink, made with Wild Turkey American Honey, a little simple syrup and iced tea. Also try the delicious pizza and wings offered from Pasquini's kitchen.
Zio Romolo's is a fun local hangout that's always welcoming. Whenever you're looking for great wine, conversation or just a special place to spend a happy hour, I would highly recommend Zio's!
