If you live in the southeast part of Denver, you may have been to The Park Tavern, in Capitol Hill. Located right across the street from Whole Foods, The Park Tavern has the location and room to make a killing. With ample outside seating, a large bar with plenty of drinks to warm our spirits, pool tables and karaoke on Mondays, The Park really has it all.
Until you actually sit down. I wanted to like this place; I really did. I wanted to like it so much that I gave it TWO chances.
On my first and second visit, it took forever after being seated for a server to even come to the table to get drink orders. Both times, the waitresses were subpar, rude and slow. It took over fifteen minutes to have a waitress come back after getting our drinks to take our food order. Our food came after thirty minutes, and I’ll admit, the food was good. We ordered nachos, fried mushrooms and chicken tenders. Things were cooked to temperature and tasted great, but I bet you like to have napkins at your table when you eat, right? And I bet you like to have refills come every so often when you start to get a little thirsty, huh? Me too. But at The Park Tavern, that didn't happen. I had to literally stop the waitress or go find her to get silverware, napkins or a drink refill.
To top off my horrible experiences, on my first visit, my credit card was charged twice after our rude waitress put someone else's order on my receipt. I called The Park Tavern about this incident, and the people I spoke with seemed nonchalant and unapologetic. The charge was later removed; however, the manner in which the incident was handled was not proper business ethic.
I would not recommend The Park Tavern for anything besides, maybe, karaoke on Mondays. The service is so horrendous that I don't even think the three minute walk from my friend's house is worth it. And from what I could tell, parking is a nightmare if it's busy.
