Ghetto with a capital G.  The people, the music, the vibe…let’s just say Lodo’s is NOT the most fun I’ve had downtown on a Saturday night.  Out of all the clubs in the area to choose from, I find Lodo’s to be the lamest. Their DJ did not have any discernable talent and most the crowd was the super young, rub-up-against-you kind of crowd, standing around smoking cigarettes and trying to get a space under the heat lamps.

Lodo’s is a locally-owned sports bar in Denver along with two other Colorado locations. It isn’t your typical sports bar though - it’s more like a combination nightclub and a sports bar - with dance floors both downstairs and on the rooftop patio. The TVs throughout the bar showing all kinds of sports, while the DJ spins Top-20ish music to dance to.

Since their remodel of the rooftop area, all the patrons tend to hang out up there, even on a really chilly night.  There are many seating areas both inside and out, however.  If I do happen to end up at Lodo’s for happy hour, I prefer to hang out around the balcony overlooking Coors Field as I sip wine served in disposable, plastic cups (classy). They have 24 beers on tap and some surprisingly decent food.  Their menu runs the gamut of typical American dishes, including steaks, salads, pizzas, and burgers.

I don’t know if the other two locations in Westminster and Highlands Ranch do, but the Lodo’s in Denver charges a small cover. I normally don’t care much for places that charge a cover, but the $2 cover at the Denver location isn’t high enough to complain about, though it might speak to the joint’s popularity.

I think Lodo’s leaves a lot to be desired; there are many more posh, affordable places nearby.
