The owner, Scott Lobben, instantly made me feel at home and it became clear quickly that this guy knows his stuff. And after a few minutes chatting, I found that a love of all things hair actually runs in the family. Rita B is his mother and started the salon chain herself 25 years ago. Scott's sister opened this downtown location three years ago and he took it over about 16 months ago. He's been doing hair for about 10 years and had just moved back from Los Angeles. He's redecorated, hired new staff and begun taking on a new, local client list.
Scott did a fabulous job of turning my long, heavy winter locks into a light, shiny and perfectly shaped asymmetrical bob. He takes the time to make sure every strand falls into place just as it should and even put me back in the chair for a moment after styling, when he saw one corner that just wasn't quite right.
It's conveniently located on the 16th Street Mall and is perfect for downtowners like myself, travellers or anyone on the metro area. I might add that finding a haircut elsewhere in the city for $45 or any other reasonable salon prices can be a challenge, but this salon keeps it very reasonable. I will be back for my own followup in a few weeks!
